Seminar Description
This seminar addresses rooftop solar, the largest segment of Bangladesh's solar growth. Due to scarce land and high population density, the National Renewable Energy Development Strategy (2026–2030) gives rooftop solar top priority, targeting 5,500 MW, more than half of all new renewable capacity planned till 2030. Factory roofs, commercial buildings, homes and small businesses together offer a large, mostly untapped resource that can be developed without taking land away from agriculture. The seminar starts with a keynote presentation on domestic and industrial rooftop solar by IDCOL, followed by the panel discussion. The expected outcome of this seminar is an action plan linking rooftop solar with industrial growth and export competitiveness, a framework for domestic rooftop models that deliver energy security and employment, and recommendations on net metering implementation, technology selection and equipment standards.
